While doing the grocery shopping[1], I needed some baloney. Safeway conveniently offers several options:
See, there's beef, and turkey, and... MEAT? Pardon me?
Oh, who am I kidding. I know darn well what's in baloney but it's still my favorite lunch meat. Just goes to show you that I'm still quite clearly a product of my upbringing[2].
[1] Can someone explain to me why it is the year 2008 and I still do most of my grocery shopping in person? Me, of all people? Who hasn't shot a roll of film since she went digital over ten years ago? Who has more computers in the house than people?
[2] That would be the same upbringing that brought me my wonderful grandmother, aka "Gram", who taught me to make one of life's delicacies: White bread, slathered in butter, with white sugar poured over it[3]. MMmmmm.
[3] The look on my husband's face when I go near the sugar jar is priceless.
Just today I fixed a friend's son a jelly and butter sandwhich and I told her about your bread, butter and sugar nastiness. Makes my teeth itch just typing it! = )

The beef costs twice as much as the turkey or the meat. That's interesting.

Just like "processed cheese food" that is velveeta's smooth and velvety yumminess.
I actually want to hurl when thinking about bologna. Only slightly influenced by the visual of cows being fork-lifted into the slaughterhouse (barf.) Thank god for vegetarianism. This latest report would have put me over the edge if I weren't already. ;)
