Jared, my husband and I were driving home the other day. Jared, as usual, was sitting in the back seat entertaining himself with a constant (I'm not kidding. c-o-n-s-t-a-n-t) level of chatter along the lines of "Bus! White bus! More bus? Truck! Yellow truck! More truck? More bus?"
I said to my husband "Do you think we did anything to make him so verbal? Or is that just who he is and would have been regardless of how we've raised him?"
He turned to me and said "Are you kidding me? He's your son!"
It was then that I realized: I talk a lot.
Oy, I hate being stereotypical. And the image of a stereotypical chatterbox woman really bugs me. On the bright side, the first step is admitting you have a problem.
I don't really see talking a lot as being a problem. After all, you probably are proud of how verbal Jared is, right? As long as you're willing to listen when someone else has something to say, also being articulate is a good thing.

I don't think being a chatterbox is a problem. I'm sure you have important things to say!
My first child was very verbal too, but my second one shocked me by lagging in that area. While #1 was talking in complete sentences by age two, #2 just had one word at that age. Well, two words, but they sounded the same: "doddy" meant either "daddy" or "doggie" depending on the context. It was a real shock after being able to converse with #1 when he was such a little guy.

I hear ya sister! I have an EXTREMELY verbal 4yr old (my DH, the former radio DJ's doing, not mine!:))
It's funny......when DC is your first you constantly lament "Gosh I wish he would talk!" Then once he does, you spend the next 18 wishing he would be quiet....even for 5 minutes.

I would much rather be around someone who talks alot than someone who does not talk at all. Well, I could name a few exceptions...

I don't mind him talking so much.. although it gets tiring to be constantly responding, since he expects it now. It was just eye-opening to realize that *I* am such a talker.
I'm not so sure it's an innocent quality as long as everyone enjoys hearing you talk... I was at an event recently where there was another guy who was A Talker, and although many of the things he said were funny, I just got tired of hearing his voice!
