I'm sick, pregnant and have a toddler alternating between separation anxiety and fierce independence. No two of those are a recipe for high energy. Let's just say that today was a Very Long Day, but I made it through.
As I was leaving his room after putting him to sleep in his crib, he says "Mama?".
"Crap", I think, "He's going to demand a sip of milk or water or a toy that's downstairs or he'll find something to drag this out." But I don't say that out loud, instead I gave my usual "Yes, sweetpea?"
"Nigh-night" he says as he smiles and lays his head down on the pillow.
How I love this child.
yeah, they sometimes just intuitively know when to say the right thing, amazing isn't it. I love those little "good nights" from my kids, even now when they're big.

Sleep without any complaint or crying or questions is truly a great thing.
